Our STAR Principles are the basis of what is Harbin Lumber, with each letter symbolizing something special. Smile, Teach & Learn, “All In” and Royal Law are what employees of Harbin Lumber embody and what we hope to instill in future employees to come. Mike Scarborough, an employee of our Athens location, is a great example of our STAR Principles. Specifically, the Royal Law portion, treating others as he would want to be treated and giving back to those who have given to us.
Before beginning his time with HLC, Mike drove for Watson Trucking as a licensed Class A driver since 2008. When he joined the Athens Lumberyard, he became an integral part of our shipping department delivering building materials to customers and job sites and picking up extra material when needed. Though our drivers stay busy with their deliveries, Mike enjoys taking the time to interact with customers when delivering materials and helping with their projects. He ensures that every customer he meets has a great experience.
Todd Lord, the General Manager of our Athens, GA lumberyard, has seen Mike be an exemplary employee since his start with Harbin Lumber. “He is always willing to volunteer to work overtime, help another location, and was the first person to volunteer to help with the Morgan Co. Children’s Bike Giveaway on a Saturday morning before Christmas”.
Though Mike is busy with daily deliveries on the job at Harbin, he still finds time to give back and volunteer when he can. That is why he is a great example of a STAR employee setting a standard for others around him.
