Randall Dobbins is the kind of man every company wishes they could clone.  For 15 years, he has worked at Load Star, Harbin Lumber’s truss manufacturing plant, relentlessly churning out custom cut engineered wood products at a pace that would be challenging to the most energetic youngster, all with a smile on his face.  But ‘Dobbins’, as he is affectionately referred to, is facing challenges none of us ever wants to face.

At the beginning of the year, he was diagnosed with an aggressive lung cancer, for which he has been undergoing treatment for all year.  Throughout his treatment, Dobbins has continued to work, powering through the toughest times.  His coworkers have been a support system to him, but in typical Dobbins style, he has been an even more positive influence on them.

“He has been an inspiration to all of us,” said Donna Smith, Administrative Assistant at Load Star.  “He has a tremendous amount of faith.   He lost his dad to cancer right after he was diagnosed, and through it all his attitude has been positive and he has remained full of good energy. He’s the kind of man who would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed help.  You couldn’t find a nicer person.”

General Manager of Load Star, Stephen Cain, agrees.  “Dobbins is a good testimony of what perseverance can do.  He works hard, and he takes his treatment, and he comes right back to work.  He’s worked his whole life and that’s what he wants to do,”  he said.

Coworker Ingrid Martinez, HR Assistant, said, “I admire his energy and determination to stay busy and keep working.  We all love him around here.”

Keep up the great work, Dobbins, and we’ll keep praying for you even as you inspire us every day.
