This month’s Feature Friday was unique from the beginning but also very significant to Anderson University with the construction of the new Men’s and Women’s Soccer & Lacrosse Field House. Harbin Lumber customer JDavis Construction entrusted HLC to supply necessary building materials in several of their projects. One of those projects being the new Field House at Anderson University!
JDavis Inc. was established in 1997 and has grown into three different divisions of the building industry including JDavis Construction, New Terrain Grading, and JDI Industrial Services. From completed projects like industrial facilities spanning 150,000 sq ft. to college apartments on multiple university campuses the employees of JDavis are equipped with many skills and trades to get the job done.
Superintendent Frank Pursley headed the Anderson University Field House project and has also worked in several areas of JDavis including Industrial Services as well as Residential and Commercial Construction. Frank’s experience makes him a great leader for this kind of project. He noted that he lives by being proactive every day on the job. General Contracting intern, Steven Anderson, also had a hand in assisting the build.
The Anderson University Soccer & Lacrosse Field House construction broke ground in January of this year and it comes in at a great time as this year is the Men’s Lacrosse team inaugural season. Before the field house addition broke ground, the stadium received new synthetic turf in the summer of 2020. Both upgrades created a new and fresh environment for any team that plays there.
The field house is a total of 9500 sq. ft. with locker rooms on both sides on the lower level for the women’s and men’s soccer and lacrosse teams. The second level consists of coaching staff offices, a catering area, and an outdoor balcony area overlooking the field to host events and ceremonies for the university.
Harbin Lumber Company supplied structural materials for this build including the roof & floor trusses, and floor system. HLC also provided exterior materials including siding, pressured treated lumber for decking, and the fortress hand railing on the second-floor patio and stairs.
This project was a great one to watch from start to finish with Harbin Lumber being represented on many parts of it. Mike Greer, Outside Salesman for Harbin Lumber, headed the operation of ensuring all materials for this build were ready to go when needed. Mike’s knowledge of materials and the construction industry give him the edge to take care of his customers in a special way.
