Commitment comes to mind when describing Harbin Door Shop employee, Lamar Westmoreland. With 42 years of experience with driving for different companies, including Harbin Door Shop and sometimes our Reload facility, his commitment to his role is exemplified every day.
Commitment is something that is noticed by many within Harbin Lumber and even outside of his daily job. Assistant manager of the Harbin Door Shop, Shelly Walters, attributes Lamar to being a quintessential employee. “Lamar never complains… ever! You will never hear a negative word out of his mouth, and he is always willing to help with a smile on his face. He is the type of co-worker you really enjoy working with, and we love having him apart of our team!”
Lamar is very easy going and genuinely cares for the people he works with and his position with the Door Shop. When asked what he likes about his job, his answer was simple: everything. That positive attitude is something that Eddie Wester, Harbin Door Shop General Manager, notices every morning he walks in the door. “Lamar takes pride in everything he does. There is nothing he would not do to help someone whether it is family, friend, coworker, or even a stranger”. Eddie explained that Lamar is truly one of kind adding, “you could search all over and maybe only find a few that loves their job and coworkers the way Lamar does, and I am thankful to not only work with him but to also call him a friend”.
His commitment to his career is carried over into his personal life as well as he and his wife, Ann, have been married for 47 years. Lamar has 3 kids and 11 grandkids, so he stays busy outside of his role with Harbin. He also enjoys putting models together including planes, cars, and trucks. It is truly inspiring to see someone put such great efforts in everything they do. You embody what a STAR employee is and we appreciate all that you have done during your time Harbin Lumber Company!
