The next locations commemorating Women in Construction week are the Lavonia, GA and North Augusta, SC stores! Each of the ladies at these locations are great examples of Harbin Lumber’s core values.
Harbin Lumber, North Augusta SC
Studies have shown that even with the large amount of people working in construction, women only consist of 10.3%. Though that number is low, the powerhouse ladies of the Harbin Lumber North Augusta location have proved they belong in this industry! Vanessa (pictured on left) and Kim (pictured on right) are both on the Inside Sales team and are extremely dependable in their daily jobs. Creating the best experience for their customers is a top priority for them and they are always ready to jump in to make the business successful.
Problem solving has become both of their strong suits too. Though North Augusta is the furthest Harbin Lumber location, they are consistently checking in with our Corporate Office when necessary making sure all tasks are accounted for. Great communication is something each of them possess which is extremely important in an industry like construction.
The growth both women have experienced as a part of the Inside Sales team has been exponential and it certainly does not go unnoticed. Not only have they grown on the sales side, but they have also experienced growth in the knowledge of the lumber and construction industry overall. Their co-workers and associates know these ladies are up for any challenge and everyone at Harbin Lumber is looking forward to seeing you both continue to conquer the challenges ahead!

Valerie and Barbara are both a part of the Harbin Lumber located in Lavonia, Georgia. Each of them play different parts but have great attention to detail and genuinely care about their positions. Valerie is an Inside Sales Coordinator, working directly with outside salesmen processing quotes and orders while also handling the internal processing for our turnkey projects. Barbara is on the Inside Sales team where she works directly with customers to find the right materials for their needs and building relationships with them every day. It rings true that both ladies have amazing knowledge of building products and what it takes to work in the construction industry.
Both Valerie and Barbara feel that every day is a new learning experience and the knowledge gained from this industry is very rewarding. When asked what they would say to other females that may be interested in joining the construction and building industry, they would encourage them to give it a try! Be open to learning and doing things differently on a day to day basis. Having the opportunity to take an idea and watch it become real is an amazing thing.
Watching you both succeed in your roles has been awesome to see over the years. Our Lavonia lumberyard would not be the same without the two of you!
